Who We Are

Since 1982 Taming the SAT has helped more than 120,000 students prepare and maximize their scores on the SAT and PSAT exams.  Taming the SAT was developed at the University of Southern California (USC) in the School of Education in 1982.

Pete Riley: Co-Director of Taming The SAT. Pete is a Southern California local. Pete has an undergraduate degree from UCLA, and completed graduate work at CSUN and USC, where he also completed the coursework for a Ph.D in Applied Mathematics. Pete has tutored students in math for 30 years, and for the past 18 years, he also has been an Adjunct Math Prof at Pasadena City College. Pete has also taught at the High School and Junior High School level, and since 1990 he also has been teaching Mathematics and SAT Prep to high school students.
